Keith Parker behind the wheel again, but this time it’s a kart….on dirt! AGT driver Keith Parker accepted the invitation of Trevor Hillar, manufacturer of the turf kart or tkart to travel to Essex Connitcut on the Sunday of the Rolex GT weekend at Lime Rock Park to participate in the Grasspass Pro/Am.
“LRP is not allowed to race on Sundays by ordinance and this is a great way to spend the off day”, stated Parker. The day included a 1 hour enduro featuring the racers from Lime Rock teamed with the local kart owners, complete with LeMans start, driver change, with sprint races , plus a pig roast afterwards.
“Not having the car ready for LRP was a disapointment, but this certainly made up for it. I came to have fun and that I did”, the AGT driver went on to say. “Although it was somewhat humbling to be passed by midgets, kids and a girl, given my size and the size of my teammates (so christened “Team Heavyweight”) in a 6 1/2 hp kart we weren’t going to vie for the win, but we didn’t finish last and no cars not running at the end beat us”.
Special thanks to Team Heavyweight teammates, Terry Klieman and Bob DeKett and to Trevor Hillar for hosting a first class event. Also a tip of the hat to Andy Lally for co-driving to the enduro win on Sunday and the win back at LRP on Monday.
